Snoop Dogg & Weezer Live at Sunfest 5/3/17

It was a Wednesday afternoon, but that wasn’t stopping anyone from acting like it was the weekend at Sunfest. The sky was clear blue with a breeze in the air, the perfect time for food, booze, and live music in south Florida.

Snoop Dogg

The crowd for Snoop started pilling up early with their fresh blunts waiting to be lit in anticipation. Before Snoop came out, a trailer of the new Tupac movie, All Eyez on Me played on the big screen. This made the crowd even more restless with people wondering why a movie trailer was playing instead of Snoop preforming.

Once the trailer finished, one of Snoop’s band members yelled into the mic, “Are ya’ll ready for Snoop?” and the crowd erupted in cheers. ‘I Wanna Rock’ started playing while Snoop came out with the mic in one hand and a blunt in another, the air was covered with smoke from the crowd. There was a girl dancing on the big screen and a mascot of a dog with a rather large blunt on the stage with him, it was definitely a Snoop concert.

‘Tha Shiznit’ was next on the list. The whole field was filled with head-bobbin’ people by now. It was clear after twenty years of making music, he is still able to turn up at a show and sound amazing.

Weezer

Fifteen minutes after Snoop started, Weezer opened, which was disappointing to fans that wanted to enjoy both performances. Many people were walking back and forth to the shows to get a view of both.

Weezer played at Sunfest in 2010, and was just as good, seven years later. The crowd was just as big, if not bigger for them and they came out and played Hash Pipe.

Now, if you are looking for an energetic band that runs around on the stage, this band is not for you. The band members are more on the mellow side of performing and like to stay in place while playing. But that doesn’t mean the music was bland. They still sound amazing live, probably because they have been playing the same widely loved hits since 1994.
