While on Tour’s picks for the must see shows at this year’s SunFest

2019 SunFest lineup

It is that time of the year again, “Where music meets the waterfront”. West Palm Beach’s 37th annual SunFest returns with 4 days jam packed full of sunshine, music, art and food. The killer line up and fabulous location provide a perfect opportunity to kick back and enjoy your favorite artists from your childhood and today as well as open your horizon to some up and coming bands you may not have known about.

While on Tour is no stranger to the reggae rock community and we have not only heard of this year’s reggae contributions to the lineup but we have even spent some quality time with some of them. That is why we wanted to take this opportunity to make sure the following bands are on your must see list (assuming you are like me and have one).

Rebelution, hailing from Isla Vista, California has been touring hard and wowing fans since 2004. Their 2016 studio album Falling Into Place landed them their very first Grammy nomination and they show no signs of slowing down in 2019. Rebelution has just the right amount of rage with a full band including dualing horns and air guitar worthy guitar solos. Check out Rebelution on the Jet Blue stage Friday, May 2, 2019 at 9:00pm. Below is a wee bit of Reb for your viewing pleasure.

Stick Figure, a touring 5 piece band started off rather uniquelly. Scott Woodruff (guitar and vocals) originally from Duxbury, Massachusetts started off as a one man band. Scott, a self taught musician, wrote, produced and recorded his studio albums solo. Deciding he wanted to go on tour, Scott picked up a full band and hit the road hard. Stick Figure’s latest studio album Set in Stone debuted on the Billboard & Itune Reggae Charts at #1.

While on Tour’s very first time photographing a show was a Stick Figure show and we have loved watching this band grow and succeed over the years. We have travelled as far as Mexico to enjoy the sweet sounds of Stick Figure’s reggae rock tunes.

You just may catch a glimpse of the famous Cocoa the Tour Dog if you come (which you totally should). You can catch Stick Figure on the Ford stage on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at 3:00pm.

Put a smile on your face and check them out.

Iration is probably the most commercially known reggae acts at this year’s Sunfest with chart topping singles like, “Time Bomb” and “Falling”. All but one of the members of this powerhouse reggae rock band grew up in Hawaii and this is definitely evident in their sound. With Sunfest being a waterfront festival, Iration’s beachy vibes are a perfect match. Be sure to grab yourself a pina colada or your favorite craft beer and check out Iration on the Jet Blue stage on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at 3:45pm.

Last, but certainly not least we have Fortunate Youth , a six piece band from Hermosa Beach, CA. Fortunate Youth is comprised of brothers (literally) and friends who have known each other and been playing music together basically their whole lives. Fortunate Youth has released 4 full length studio albums, Three of which hit #1 on the Billboard and iTunes Reggae charts. “It’s All A Jam”, “Don’t Think Twice”, and the most recent self titled “Fortunate Youth”. Don’t be surprised when the band decides to switch things up a bit and begin swapping instruments. Many of the six band members are multi instrumentalists and often swap instruments mid song. Fortunate Youth and their powerhouse front man Dan Kelly deliver a set full of easy to jam to songs and have you leaving wanting more. While on Tour had the opportunity to interview Dan and a few of the other members back in 2015 and they couldn’t have been any cooler. You can check out that interview here. Make sure not to miss Fortunate Youth on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 on the Jet Blue stage at 2:15pm.

You can pick up tickets to Sunfest online right now by clicking here. I hope to see all of your beautiful faces this May on the waterfront!
