Taste of Chaos tour- Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Saosin & The Early November

Show review and photos by Brittany Lemire

This year’s Taste of Chaos tour is quite possibly the dream throwback tour anyone could have asked for. With the combination of The Early November, Saosin , Taking Back Sunday, and Dashboard Confessional, we all pretty much teleported back to our Sophomore year of high school.

The Early November started out the night getting everyone pumped with ‘Decoration’ and ‘Frayed in Doubt. Hailing out of New Jersey, The Early November came ready to give Miami a little taste of chaos. Finishing out their set with ‘I want to hear you sad’ and ‘Narrow Mouth,’ the crowd was now pumped to get the rest of the night rolling.

I seriously have never seen a more beautiful man. Opening with ‘Racing Toward A Red Light’ and ‘Translating the Name’, Green completely took my ears on a whirlwind. If you’ve ever seen Stepbrothers, they might describe his voice as a mix between Fergie and Jesus. He’s got to be one of the best vocalists in the scene. I also hope Anthony was wearing his Fitbit because the amount of jumping and running around he does on stage must give him one hell of a workout. Ending their set with “Control and the Urge to Pray” and ” Seven Years,” they left the crowd wanting more.

Taking Back Sunday took the stage next. Opening with classic ‘Cute Without the “E”’, I literally had a That’s So Raven flashback to sitting in my room with my best friend, screaming the lyrics at the top of our lungs. Their set consisted of so many great songs such as ‘Liar [It Takes One To Know One]’, ‘Decade Under the Influence’ and ‘You’re So Last Sumer’. There wasn’t one moment that you didn’t hear the crowd screaming the lyrics back at them. Closing out their set with ‘MakeDamnSure’, I’m pretty sure I almost got hit in the head with Adams microphone while he was classically swinging it just like in the music video.

Last but not least, Dashboard Confessional. Chris Carrabba took to the stage with his band, opening with a handful of favorites like ‘Vindicated’, ‘The Good Fight’ and ‘The Sharp Hint of New Tears’. Having never seen Dashboard before I have to say I was extremely impressed. From their stage presence to outstanding live vocals, Dashboard gave the crowd a run for their money. Closing out the evening, Carrabba played a few more fan favorites such as ‘Remember to Breathe’, ‘Again I Go Unnoticed’ and the ultimate classic in ‘Screaming Infidelities’.

My first Taste of Chaos show was a success and I certainly hope it’s not my last.
